I have a confession. I don’t like writing these monthly wrap-up posts.

(I think anyone reading these could tell that based on how delayed they always get.)

When I started this blog, I committed to 2-3 posts a month. I wanted to take it easy. I’d never written a regular blog before, let alone something that was available to the public (even if my corner of the Internet is very small), and I didn’t want to overwhelm myself. Figuring out two things a month to write about immediately gave me struggle—so I cheated. One of those posts would be a monthly wrap-up. Easy, right?

Wrong. Every month was like pulling teeth. And I’d always come away wishing I’d spent that hour or two doing something else.

So, this is my last monthly wrap-up post. I’m still committed to 2-3 posts a month, but each post will have a purpose beyond “what did I do.”

I’ll have to think of a new category for the blog section. Maybe actual writing? And not just posts about writing? We’ll see.

For posterity, here’s what I did in July

• Wrote 5k in a new WIP, which didn’t click with me at all
• Wrote 38k in an old WIP, which is now my main WIP
• Read three published books and three unpublished books as a beta
• Participated in four pitch events
• Hosted my friend for the first week of July, so it’s a miracle I got so much done to be honest
• Had a 10k writing day. Hoping for a few more of those this month
• Got another request for THE EVERWINTER KING. More to come?
